Universities provide a ripe environment for the value and benefits of utilizing Minutes Matter™.

The Nivitus Minutes Matter™ system provides a revolutionary way for Personal Health Information (PHI) to be obtained and processed quickly and safely for students at universities during pre-hospital treatment of traumatic and medical emergencies. Our goal is to improve emergency healthcare to these students by providing first responders with timely access to a comprehensive set of vital data during initial contact with the patient.

First responders too frequently arrive at universities to discover students and bystanders unable to communicate with their caregivers or provide them with critical PHI. In addition, first responders get distracted by their surroundings and become complacent due to their preconceived assumptions of common calls for intoxication or drug use. The outward signs and symptoms of many non-life threatening, and common deadly medical emergencies are the same as these common conditions and can cause delay in proper diagnoses and treatment.   The outcome will result in a less-than-optimal outcome for the patient and, in the most extreme cases, a preventable death.

It is often assumed that young adults have few medical risks … Let’s look at the facts

  • Advances in medicine have decreased the mortality rates of many previously fatal chronic diseases. Children who would have died early in life are now living well into adulthood, and many are matriculating as college students.
  • In the US, more than 500,000 youth per year with chronic conditions, ranging from diabetes to bipolar disorder, turn 18 years old, and colleges must adapt to face this new challenge.

Combined with the rise in mental health issues, chronic health conditions, and the use of maintenance prescriptions amongst the student body, the outcome will result in a less-than-optimal outcome for the student and, in the extreme cases, a preventable death.

How will first responders access the students PHI?

The first responder can conveniently use the barcode or QR code located on the student’s university issued ID card.   The students will have a QR code sticker provided to them which is to be placed on their phone case.   This ensures that the medic will have quick and reliable options for locating a patient’s information.
